Pirates

Who can resist a pirate daddy? Nile and the kids had a pirate adventure, though Seth thought it got too ridiculous once they donned the hankerchiefs. He and I became the pirate ship chefs at that point.

Josie's really bought into this pirate thing...she's protecting her treasure.

Family

My beautiful little sister, three days away from giving birth to child #2! We had so much fun hanging out with her and her husband and daughter, plus my dad and step-mom. Seth ruined the only picture I took of my dad by making some weird face-sorry dad! I never remember to take pictures of stuff until it's too late! :(

Josie, Avery (my adorable niece), and Gabe just goofing around. Notice Gabe just lost his fifth tooth, his first of the top teeth.

Funny Stuff 2

Seth:
"We made some great contraptions. Gabe's gonna faint when he sees them! He's gonna be so impressed."
He loves doing experiments, which translates to mess. This boy does everything big, it's just his personality. One of his experiments involved mixing water, oil, some spices and probably other things I'm not even aware of that he stole from the kitchen. I walk into the bathroom and he says, "Look, mom. The oil binds together just like a magnet. I love doing experiences (that's what he calls experiments). Man, the girls are all gonna want to marry me. Girls love this stuff."
"This is made with love in every stitch." (He had made some creation for me, one that had nothing to do with sewing, though)

Josie:
"Hey, mommy, do you want to watch a movie...the one where he says, 'Today is a new day!'? It's really exciting." (Referring to Chicken Little)
"Mommy, can you tell me that story about when I was born at the hospital?"
"Oh, mommy. I love you SO much. You're my bestest girl ever."
"Oops, I did not ask for permission." (After I found her standing on the counter trying to look for treats.)
"Does Cooper love God?" (Funny sidenote...I was able to say yes, because when Seth was three, I overheard him witnessing to Cooper. He was very serious about it, and my favorite part of his speech was when he said to the dog, "Jesus loves you so much. He been nailed to the cross." The next day he put a cross necklace on Cooper because, "now Cooper knows about Jesus.")
"I wish we could get rid of Seth." (After a little disagreement)
"Let's get Cooper a bone. He will be so thrilled!"
Josie had left half of her granola bar on the table, and while she was gone Cooper jumped up and ate it. She was not happy, and gave him a piece of her mind. Her last words were, "You selfish guy!"
She handed me a spatula and said, "Here, mommy, in case anyone talks back or says stupid, or butt, or penis." (Wow)
She comes out of her room and says, "I need some binegard (vinegar) for my babies. They said stupid, I mean butts." (She loves to try to sneak in all the words she knows she is not allowed to say).

Gabe:
"Why did Cooper run away? Do you think he just wanted to explore the world?"
"Nope. I looked in her stool and there was nothing in it. No damage." (He checked to see if Josie had gone potty in her stool)
"Man, I really miss Jo-Jo." (She was with my mom and step-dad overnight, and he could barely stand it)
"You've got a great smile, Josie."
When we were in St. Louis, Nile had to do a lot of work as far as loading and packing the van, etc. Nile had gone out to get another load of stuff and Gabe said, "Mom, I sure wish we had another guy around here to help Dad. He has to do all the work. He packs the van and unloads it, he carries lots more stuff than anyone else, he let us have a dog, he works hard to make money so our family can have a house and food, he plays with us a lot. Those are all things a good shepherd would do." (I was so encouraged that he notices that kind of stuff)

St. Louis 1

Seth jammin' out as we leave the Gateway Arch

Near the Arch

We ate (and drank lots) at a great place called Fitz's, where you could watch them make their own root beer and watch how they bottle it, put stickers on it, and pack it up. The kids were fascinated by it, and Seth ADORES root beer, so he was in heaven.

Took this shot just for Grandpa Tim...they served the kids' food in these cars, and Josie got the prized '57 Chevy.

Not the best shot of them, but wanted to show the great root beers we had. Not a great idea to let them drink bottomless mugs of root beer followed by a four hour drive back to Iowa.

FatherSon Club fellas...the last one with the Mejias. We are so sad to see them go, but are blessed to have had them for the time we did!

Seth lost his first tooth..."Mom, I just plucked it right out!", he told me.

Josie and her sweet cousin Cayla

Partners in crime...I overheard the following comments, and ran out to witness the torture(though S and J thought they were providing a relaxing spa) of this poor ladybug. "We're gonna spice him up. He loves his hot tub! Josie, this is our best experiment yet!" He had put in some toothpaste to make the water "hot" for his hot tub. He also put in some good smelling things and some lemonade in case the ladybug got thirsty.

This girl LOVES her dog!

Finally done...

My last day of posting old pix...are you as sick of me and my family as I am?! Maybe I'll go on a brief hiatus after this. My birthday week has been wonderful. I'll write more later on that.

Daddy and Seth

Mommy and Josie at Minnehaha Falls

Who can resist a girl in a Transformer shirt?!

Gabe helped Josie get on a JLife shirt because she wanted to match him, but she came out with a headband and Daddy's perfect pushup things for her feet all on her own.

Every family has to have some of these in the archives. Note Seth, fresh off his second set of stitches.

Uncle Joe and Aunt Sarah seeing firsthand that Seth does EVERYTHING with gusto! We had a blast with them in Minnesota.

More Favorites...

Well, my sweet husband expressed some concern that 5 pictures every day this week may be too much for my viewers...I believe he said it this way, "Don't you think 25 pictures in a week is a bit excessive when, like, 10 would suffice?" So cute, babe. He's probably right, so maybe I'll downsize my plan. Thank you so much for all the nice birthday messages, calls, and emails. How can a girl be depressed about her old age when she has so many wonderful friends and family in her life. You are all such a blessing to me! Here are some more favorites.

Favorites

I am declaring this week to be, My Favorites Week. As I lamented (I mean pondered) turning thirty-five, it made me a little nostalgic, so this week I will try everyday to post 5 of my favorite pix from the past year. There is no particular order or theme, so bear with me.
